How Do I Reset My Password In Zone Alarm?
I came across this question - How Do I Reset My Password In Zone Alarm? and it appears to me that there is great possibility that other PC users may have this same problem if they too have forgotten their password for Zone Alarm. So, I decided to write this post for all to quickly and rather easily solve this problem.
Unfortunately, there is no way that I know about to reset your password in zone alarm but the best alternative I find get around this is to reset the database, and you’ll have to reconfigure your settings
So here are the steps to follow to Reset Your Password In Zone Alarm:
First, for you to carry out this exercise, you MUST be logged in as/or with an admin account if you are using Windows XP, or if your system supports this feature.
1. Open up Zone Alarm then go to overview - preferences and uncheck “Zone Alarm(ZA) at startup”
2. Reboot your PC in ‘Safe Mode’ by pressing F8 at the beep, or by holding down your control key (Ctrl) on your keyboard during bootup. (If you’re unsure how to do this then click on your start menu, then help, then click the search tab and type in ’safe mode’ and click for instructions.)
3. For Windows 9x/ME/XP, open “My Computer” =>> C: =>> Windows =>> Internet Logs
** For Windows NT/2000, open “My Computer” =>> C: =>> WINNT =>> Internet Logs
4. From here you want to delete all files that have the extension .RDB, .LDB or .TMP. (May be in lower case on your system)
P.S. you can delete all the files simultaneously by holding down the control (Ctrl) key on you keyboard as you select them
5. Navigate to your Recycle Bin and empty it.
6. Restart your computer normally, the way you used to, then open Zone Alarm by going to Start =>> Programs =>> Zone Alarm. Once the program loads, go back to overview - preferences and re-check “ZA (Zone Alarm) load at start up”
From here, you do not want to restore your database, but rather create a new one to prevent any problems
There you have it. That’s the only way I know how to reset your password for Zone Alarm.
Hope this helps!
